Bloom Baby Classes, Preston South

Our incredible community of teachers are a huge part of what makes Bloom Baby Classes special. One of the latest additions to our blooming network is Emma Liu who recently launched her classes in Preston South after discovering Bloom and the amazing impact our classes can have when her little one was born. We had a chat to get to know Emma a little better, and to introduce her to this loving network Bloom-style.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

Hi! I’m Emma, I’m 36 years old and originally from Preston. I now live in Merseyside with my little family. I bought the franchise in March of this year, ran taster sessions throughout the summer and then launched the Preston South classes in September!

What did you do before you joined Bloom Baby Classes?

Before having my little one I was an account manager. It was fine but it didn’t thrill me – I found it quite dry and not very rewarding! After having a baby, I couldn’t bring myself to go back to the 9-5 and so I was in search of something that would not only fit my lifestyle as a new mum but fulfil me too.

How did you come across Bloom Baby Classes?

A friend of my husband went to the classes before I had my son so I was aware of Bloom, but when you’re not a mum you don’t pay attention to this kind of thing! When I became pregnant, I was looking for classes to help nurture my baby and remembered Bloom – so I signed up during my maternity leave.

Seeing my son’s development improve so much is proof to me of the wonderful effect of the classes. As soon as we started at Bloom he became more engaged and more involved. Despite only being one he is shaking rattles and is inquisitive about things which I don’t think he would’ve been without Bloom. For me, there was a real community aspect too which just provided me with another reason to join as a teacher – to help other parents through their journey.

What’s the best thing about being a Bloom Baby Classes teacher?

One of the best things is seeing babies develop. When a little one stands up or reaches for a star on the mat for the first time it’s amazing – we celebrate every little win at Bloom and seeing the parents’ reactions is so special.

My other favourite thing is the community. I interact with the parents and encourage them tointeract with each other so they have a support network they know they can talk to. Seeing friendships form is amazing and so rewarding – we see some mums come through our doors with postnatal depression so to be a part of their recovery journey is so special. It’s incredible to see the positive difference having a group of people around you who understand what you are going through can make, even if it’s just for 45 minutes a week.

What are your hobbies and interests?

I’m not a cool kid! I enjoy country music, gigs and concerts. My husband and I have been married for around two years and are both really outdoorsy so we enjoy camping and hiking, particularly in Scotland as we have friends there who we like to visit a couple of times a year. Travelling is my other big love – I want to see as much of the world as possible!
